Elm Hollow Form Vase
Wood from Salem, MA
this vase is about 21” tall And 9” wide
This vase id one of the deepest piece I’ve hollowed to date. It has a long tapered design and was end grain hollowed using special hollowing tools to accomplish the deep hollowing. Additionally, I dyed this piece with 3 colors black, red, and purple. In between each color I removed a lot of the color added to give it the translucent effect I wanted to achieve.
i used a deep hollowing 1” hollowing bar and heavy duty termite ring tool to hollow this piece. It took quite a while to complete this piece working on different stages of it.
